Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Diwan Türkiye mobile application (the "App"), operated by Diwan Türkiye ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Legal Notice (Künye) & Hosting Provider Status

Diwan Türkiye operates as a Hosting Provider (Yer Sağlayıcı) under Turkish Law No. 5651 (Internet Broadcasting Law). The App and its associated services are developed and operated by Ahmed Nasser Ali Haidar, acting as an individual developer. For any legal inquiries or formal notices, you can contact us at support@diwanturkiye.app.

As a Hosting Provider, we are legally required to retain traffic data (such as IP addresses and connection logs) for a period of 1 to 2 years to comply with statutory obligations.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, browsing as a guest, or otherwise using any part of the App, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. Continued use of the App after any update to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

3. Eligibility

Diwan Türkiye is built for international students living in Türkiye, tourists, and the community that supports them.

University students: To create discussion posts, comments, and reviews in student-specific sections, you must verify your affiliation with a university using a valid .edu.tr email address.
Guest / tourist mode: You do not need an account to browse safety information, the phrasebook, and other general-guidance content. Guest access is provided for anyone who may benefit from this information, including tourists, newcomers, and visitors to Türkiye.
Age Requirements: The App is rated for users aged 12 and older (12+). However, under Turkish law, individuals under the age of 18 are considered minors and generally require parental or guardian consent to enter into binding agreements or provide explicit consent for data processing. If you are under 18 (e.g., a 16 or 17-year-old student), you must have your parent or guardian's permission to use features that require an account.

4. User Accounts

Accurate information: When you register using email or a third-party sign-in provider, you agree to provide accurate and current information.
Account security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at support@diwanturkiye.app if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
One account per person: Each user may maintain only one account. Creating multiple accounts to evade moderation actions, manipulate votes, or misrepresent your identity is prohibited and may result in termination.

5. User-Generated Content and License

The App allows you to post discussions, comments, reviews, and images ("User-Generated Content" or "UGC").

Ownership: You retain ownership of the UGC you create and post. We do not claim ownership over your content.
License to us: By posting UGC, you grant Diwan Türkiye a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content within the App, solely for the purpose of operating and improving the service.
Your responsibility: You are solely responsible for the content you post, including its accuracy, legality, and any consequences of sharing it. We do not pre-screen all UGC before it is published.

6. Content Standards and Prohibited Conduct

To keep Diwan Türkiye a safe and useful community, you agree not to post or engage in:

Harassment, bullying, hate speech, or threats directed at other users.
Illegal content, or content that facilitates illegal activity.
Scams, fraud, phishing attempts, or misleading financial solicitations.
Defamatory, knowingly false, or deliberately misleading statements.
Sexually explicit material involving minors or any form of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — this is subject to a strict zero-tolerance policy as described in our Child Safety Standards & CSAE Prevention Policy.
Spam, unauthorized advertising, or impersonation of another person or entity.

7. Notice and Takedown (Uyar ve Kaldır) Procedure

In compliance with Turkish Law No. 5651, we operate a "Notice and Takedown" (Uyar ve Kaldır) mechanism. As a Hosting Provider, we do not proactively monitor all UGC for illegality, but we will take prompt action upon receiving a valid legal notice.

If you believe that any content on the App violates your personal rights, intellectual property rights, or is otherwise illegal under Turkish law, you can send a formal takedown request to support@diwanturkiye.app. Your notice must include your identity, contact information, the exact location (URL/path) of the infringing content, and a detailed explanation of the violation. We will review and respond to valid notices within the timeframes prescribed by law.

For general community moderation, users can also use the built-in in-app "Report" features.

8. Peer-to-Peer Community Disclaimer

Diwan Türkiye is a community platform. Its core purpose is to let students and visitors share information with each other.

Content is user-submitted, not verified by us. We do not independently verify, fact-check, or vouch for the accuracy of any user-submitted content unless explicitly labeled as an official government link.
Not a substitute for official advice. Nothing in the App is a substitute for official legal, immigration, medical, financial, or insurance advice. Always confirm with the relevant Turkish government office or a licensed professional.
Use your own judgment before acting on information shared by other users.

9. AI Assistant Disclaimer

The App includes an AI-powered chat assistant intended to help answer common questions.

Some answers come from a small set of human-reviewed reference content. Questions outside that reference set are answered using a general-purpose AI model, which can produce responses that are incomplete, outdated, or simply incorrect.
The AI assistant does not provide legal, medical, or immigration advice. Always confirm anything important with an official source.

10. Third-Party Services

The App relies on third-party infrastructure to operate, including Firebase (Google) for backend infrastructure and a separate third-party service for AI processing. Your use of these integrated services is also subject to the relevant provider's own terms. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

11. Termination

Your right to delete your account: You may delete your account at any time from within the App's settings.
Our right to terminate: We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms.

12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind.
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that information is accurate.
To the fullest extent permitted under the laws of the Republic of Turkey, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct, Diwan Türkiye and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App will be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Turkey.

Please note that as a Hosting Provider under Turkish law, we benefit from liability protections for user-submitted content provided we fulfill our Notice and Takedown obligations. Users are expected to verify important information — especially legal, immigration, and safety-related information — through official channels before relying on it.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
