This page explains how to delete your Diwan Türkiye account, what data is erased, what is kept in anonymized form, and what we are legally required to retain. It applies to all users of the app.

1. How to request deletion

Option A — In the app (immediate)

This is the fastest route and requires no waiting on us:

• Open Diwan Türkiye and sign in.
• Go to your profile → More settings.
• Tap Delete account and confirm.

Your sign-in credentials are removed straight away and you are signed out. The erasure of your stored data begins at that moment and normally completes within a few minutes.

Option B — By email

If you can no longer sign in — for example you lost access to your email or phone number — send a request to support@diwanturkiye.app with the subject "Account deletion request".

Please include the email address or username associated with the account so we can identify it. We will verify that the request genuinely comes from the account holder before acting on it, and complete the deletion within 30 days of that verification. We ask for verification specifically to prevent someone else from deleting your account.

2. What is deleted

The following are erased permanently and cannot be recovered:

• Your account and sign-in credentials.
• Your profile and public profile, including your display name and biography.
• Your username reservation, which is released for others to use.
• Your profile picture.
• Your union memberships and any pending join requests.
• Reports you have submitted, price submissions, residence-permit renewal reports, and verification requests.
• Your notification settings and delivery tokens.
• Safety logs held by the in-app AI assistant.
• Images attached to reviews you posted.

3. What is kept, in anonymized form

Content you contributed to shared discussions is not deleted. Instead, every link between it and your identity is severed: the author is replaced with deleted_user and no name, picture, or account reference remains.

We do this because other students reply to and rely on this content. Deleting an entire thread because one participant left would erase other people's contributions along with yours. Under Turkish data protection law (KVKK), anonymization is an accepted form of erasure, because once anonymized the content can no longer be connected back to you.

If you want a specific post or comment removed entirely rather than anonymized, delete it inside the app before deleting your account, or ask us at support@diwanturkiye.app.

4. What we are required to retain

Diwan Türkiye operates as a Hosting Provider (Yer Sağlayıcı) under Turkish Law No. 5651. That law obliges us to retain traffic data — such as IP addresses and connection logs — for a period of one to two years, and we cannot delete it on request.

This data is retained separately from your profile. Once your account is deleted, it is no longer associated with your name, username, or any other profile information.

Under Article 11 of the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK No. 6698) you have the right to request erasure of your personal data, to learn whether your data is being processed, and to request correction of inaccurate data. To exercise any of these rights, contact support@diwanturkiye.app.
